Beautiful square dark brown patinated bronze ‘à double usage’ usubata 薄端 flower vase with a refined continuous high relief design of temple lions 獅子 (shi shi) around its body.
Two large and one small temple lion run around a rocky landscape with some blooming chrysanthemum flowers 菊 (kiku).
On both sides a temple lion mascaron is holding a movable ring on which two more rings hang.
The insert with a wide square top with a slightly everted rim which is lobed at the corners.
The bottom signed with “Yamakado Heijirô’zô” 山廉平治郎造, which means “Made by Yamakado Heijirô”.

Size with insert:
Height 28.5 cm, Width 33.7 cm, Depth 33.6 cm.
Weight 8.25 kg.
Meiji period (1868-1912).
It is in a very good condition with only some traces of age and wear. Please look at the photos for a condition reference.
