Impressive usubata 薄端 flower vase, crafted from dark brown patinated bronze, adorned with a dynamic dragon 龍 (ryû) and temple lions 獅子 (shishi) motif.

The dragon coils around a rugged rock formation, its head arched upwards, spouting water as if supporting the vase’s chalice. Two animated temple lions encircle the rock, captivated by the dragon’s display.
The upper, removable, part of the vase features an hourglass-shaped base that extends into a cone-shaped bowl, complete with a pronounced circular inner rim.

Period: Japan – Meiji period (1868-1912).

Height 35 cm, Length 35 cm, Depth base 19.5 cm, Diameter basin 31.2 cm.
Weight 5.1 kg.

It is in a good original condition with some traces of wear conform age and use. Cuppa standing a bit askew. Point of the tail missing. Small paint stain underside bowl. For a clear condition reference, please have a look at the photos.
