Lovely medium-sized brown patinated bronze vase with a cylindrical base, broad shoulder decorated with horizontal lines in relief, and a wide cylindrical neck. On the inside of the neck a row of thin horizontal stripes. The vase is has a vibrant unique red murashidô and icy green mottled motif.
The vase is in a very good condition. The inside is coated by a thick black synthetic layer. This makes the vase suitable to be used as a flower vase, as it is now protected against rust on the inside.

Murashidô is a term used to describe the tradition of dipping hot bronze in oil immediately after firing and then smoking with rice straw. The result is a beautiful unique dappled red bronze finish.
This technique was developed in Japan during the early 20th century, Shôwa period.
