An exquisite large bronze figure of a young woman in typical Nara era (8th century) garb clutching a precious Biwa (lute) by Kondo Shoshin.
The figure has a serene expression and the bronze a beautiful patina.
H. : 64 cm W. : 20 cm D. : 20 cm, weight 14.8 kg, the figure is in excellent condition.
Shōwa period (1926-1989).
Kondo Shoshin (also known as Seiho) was born son of Kondo Yoshiro, a metalworker trained under the great artist Oshima Joun, placing him a direct descendant of that lineage.
He was designated a traditional Craftsman (Dento Kogeishi) in 1975, and has received many awards at crafts exhibitions throughout Japan.
