Kura door panel

An impressive, heavy and large solid keyaki wooden panel equipped with a charming circular decorated metal key-plate. Originally equipped in the door of a warehouse 蔵 (kura).

The key-plate is engraved with a crest depicting a melon 木瓜 (mokkô). The plate is equipped with two sturdy chrysanthemum-shaped 菊 (kiku) knobs, and bordered by a circle with some similar, but smaller chrysanthemum knobs.

The panel is set in a high quality wooden frame veneered with dark brown varnished ‘Mountain ash’-wood タモ (Tamo).

The key-plate itself dates to the Edo period (1603-1867), but the panel and frame are created a little bit later during the Meiji period/Taishô period (First quarter of the 20th century).

An inscription in ink on the back.

In a very good original condition. The frame with some minor traces of wear. Please look at the photos for a condition reference.
