Beautiful, fully restored wooden paper-enclosed temple lantern 行灯 (andon) of the maru 丸形-type (cylindrical). Frame constructed from light-weight sugi (cedar) wood varnished in a lovely warm brown hue.

The lampshade has a revolving frame which can be opened. This was used to lit a candle! But now the lamp is equipped with a newly electrified CE-fitting. When lit, the fine washi-paper gives a lovely warm glow.
Fitted with a loop handle on top for easy transport.
The front of the circular base equipped with a drawer, which was used to store the matches and such.

Period: Japan – Meiji period (1868-1912).

The washi-paper has been completely restored, and the frame itself is in a very good condition with some signs of wear conform age. No lamp bulbs included. Please look at the photos for a condition reference.

When shipped we will add a certificate of authenticity.
As this paper lamp shade is very delicate, we will make a custom wooden crate for transport.
