Iko

Price:  800,00

Elegant antique gold and black lacquered wooden clothing rack 衣桁 (ikô), mostly used for official displaying kimono with refined lacquered details.

The body of the rectangular detachable frame featuring crests 紋 (mon) depicting mandarin oranges 橘 (tachi’bana) rendered in gold hiramaki-e 平蒔絵 (low-relief lacquer).
An unique feature of this ikô is that the seemingly brass shaped fittings are actually made of lacquer! Featuring a scrolling vine (karakusa) design on a nanako 魚子 (lit. ‘fish egg’ ) ground.

The ikô is in a good restored & cleaned condition with traces of wear consistent with age and use, like some lacquer loss along the rims. Please look at the photos for a clear condition reference.
