Granite lantern

Price: € 450,00

A charming granite stone garden lantern 石燈籠 (ishi’dôrô) fashioned as a traditional Japanese farmhouse, known as a minka 民家.

Carved in two sections with well-defined architectural details, the lantern is topped by a gently arched thatched roof surmounted by a carved ridge beam. One side is decorated with a large waterwheel, while the façade features a circular lattice window.

When illuminated from within, the light shines through this opening, creating a warm and inviting atmosphere.

Approx. dimensions:
Height 52 cm, Width 45.5 cm, Depth 35 cm.

The age of these lanterns is often difficult to determine. We believe this example dates to the Taishô period or early Shôwa period (first half of the 20th century).

In good original condition, with wear consistent with age. A corner of the upper ridge beam has been broken and is present. Please refer to the photographs for a clear condition reference.

For shipping, the piece will be securely packed on a wooden pallet.
When shipped, a certificate of authenticity will be included.
