Exceptionally large kakejiku 掛け軸 (hanging scroll) depicting a striking red rising sun above a vast and wavy sea. The sun lights up the horizon in warm shades of orange. Despite the waves rising high, the sea looks very serene under this soothing light of this new day.
This serene image is dated, signed and sealed by the artist. Dated: ‘Shingai Kajitsu’ 辛亥夏日, meaning ‘A summer day during the year of the Boar’, dating this work 1971.
Colour on silk.
The jikusaki 軸先 (rod ends) are made of bone.
It is in a very good condition with minor traces of age. Cover of one jikusaki missing (see photo). Please look at the photos for a condition reference.
