Wide byobu

Price:  1.650,00

Uncommon and wide twelve(!)-panel byôbu 屏風 (room divider) painted with a bamboo landscape lit by the full moon high in the sky. The use of different shades of grey creates a beautiful depth in the bamboo bushes.
Signed and sealed by the artist in the lower right corner; “Gyoren” 魚連.
Done in black ink 墨 (sumi) on paper.
The panels are bordered by a purple silk mounting with a leaf motif. Protected by a wooden frame.
The room divider is in a good condition but has several discoloured areas around the hinges. The screen also has some traces of age and wear in the painting itself. Please take a close look at the photos for a condition reference. Though they are present, these spots are hardly noticeable or disturbing when seen from a distance.
Late Meiji period – early Taishô period.
