A charming and serene large two-panel byôbu 屏風 (room divider) with a refined painting of a pond with two koi 鯉 (carps) and an abundant garden at the edge. This multi-coloured painting is set on a slightly oxidized silver leaf background. Silver leaf continuously undergoes the process of oxidation, which creates a beautiful aged patina.

The pair of red koi look up at the flower garden at the edge of the pond. Around the rock grow flowers, like; white and yellow chrysanthemums 菊 (kiku), blue irises 花菖蒲 (hanashôbu) and yellow asters 野菊 (nogiku). In the top right corner from one of the reed blades hangs a red dragonfly 蜻蛉目 (odonatan).

On the left side the room divider is signed and sealed by the artist.

It is protected by a red lacquer wooden frame.
