A charming medium-size six-panel byôbu 屏風 (folding screen) with a vibrant polychrome painting of a rooster with its family amidst a luscious flower garden.

The garden is filled with all sorts of different blooming flowers, like a different types of chrysanthemum flowers 菊 (kiku), lespedeza 萩 (hagi), pampas grasses ススキ (susuki), and asters 野菊 (nogkiku).

The multi-coloured painting is set on a paper background, and the flowers are painted by using shell paste 胡粉 (gofun) in low relief.

Surrounded by two silk borders, a beige thin one, and a moss green broad one with a swan motif. Protected by a black lacquer frame.

It is in overall good condition with some traces of age and wear. Please look at the photos for a condition reference.

The folding screen is ideal for mounting flat on a wall and presenting as a single work of art.
