Serene large two-panel byôbu 屏風
Price: € 950,00
A charming and serene large two-panel byôbu 屏風 (room divider) with a painting of a pine tree on a hill surrounded by rocks and foliage. This multi-coloured painting is set on a silver leaf background with a subtle craquelé pattern. An uncommon piece, as it is probably made by a Chinese artist in a Japanese style (in Japan).
The large pine tree is slanting slightly, and from its branches hang several pine cones. Bushes with striking red leaves grow at the base of this tree, in between the stalks are several mushrooms. Behind the rocks you can see branches of a plum tree filled with white buds, of which some have just blossomed.
On the left side the room divider is signed and sealed by the artist Tian Quankang 天泉康, and he states that he made this painting during his 73th year 七十又三齡.
It is protected by a brown wooden frame.
The screen is in a good condition with some traces of age and wear at the corners. Please take a close look at the photo of the top right corner. For a clear condition reference, please look at the photos as well.
