Roomdivider birds of prey

Price:  1.800,00

Old 6 panel roomdivider (byobu) with 6 individual polychrome paintings of birds of prey (Taka), combined with spring flowers and plants: pine tree – chrysantheum (kiku) – cherry blossom (sakura) – iris (hanashobu) – narcissus (suisen) – apricot (ume). The original textile border mounting has disappeared. The underlayer of old text printed paper has become visible now and gives this screen a very original and playful impression. This screen certainly shows signs of old repairs and general wear and tear. The paintings of these birds of prey are all very nicely detailed with strong facial expressions.
All 6 panels are sealed.

This kind of roomdivider is light in weight and can also be easily mounted flat on a wall as one large piece of art. Approx. 140 – 170 years old, Bakumatsu-period.
