Low byobu with cranes

Price:  550,00

Attractive low four-panel byôbu 屏風 (room divider) with a multi-coloured painting on silk of nine cranes 鶴 (tsuru) in a large pine tree 松 (matsu). A high waterfall is just visible on the horizon on the right side.
From ancient times, cranes (tsuru) in Japan were said to live for a thousand years, serving as potent symbols of youthfulness and long life in both literature and art. Pine trees also signify longevity.

Mounted by a light green and blue silk border with a bird motif. Protected by a black lacquer frame with its original hardware.

In a very good condition. Please look at the photos of a condition reference.
Late Shôwa-period.
Due to its smaller size and because the screen is light in weight, the byôbu is very suitable to be mounted flat on a wall and presented as one piece of art.

Total width: 176.8 cm (2 x 44.3 and 2 x 44.1 cm); Height: 88.5 cm.
