A vibrant and large six-panel byôbu 屏風 (room divider) with a painting on gold leaf of various birds flying and circling above a rich flower garden along a calm river.
Several higara (coal tits), bunchô (Java sparrows) and mijiro (Warbling white-eye) fly peacefully the deep blue river surrounded by all sorts of flowers, like red star lily’s カノコユリ (kanokoyuri), pink azaleas 躑躅 (tsutsuji), pink and white peonies 牡丹 (botan) and a blue iris花菖蒲 (hanashôbu).
Mounted by two silk borders, a thin white brocade one, and a broad navy brocade one. Protected by a black lacquer frame with its original hardware.
In a very good condition with traces of age, wear and old restorations. Please look at the gold leaf restoration in the 5th panel, and the re-papered hinges on the back. For a clear condition reference, please look at the photos as well.
