Price:  1.400,00

A lovely and large two-panel byôbu 屏風 (room divider) with a vibrant painting of a copper pheasant 山鳥 (yamadori) resting on a thick branch. The bird is surrounded by many different autumn leaves in different hues. From one branch there even hangs a small bunch of dark blue berries, which the bird is looking intently at. Through the bushes of leaves some mountains are visible at the horizon.

This multi-coloured painting is set on a silk background.

The screen is signed and sealed in the lower right corner.

Surrounded by two silk borders, a thin beige one, and a broad soft-pin one. It is protected by black lacquer wooden frame.

It is in a fair condition with some loss of paint on the leaves, and some water damage in the corners at the top. Please look at the photos for a condition reference. It still is a very charming screen with a dynamic and vibrant painting.

Total width: 173.2 cm (2 x 86.6 cm); Height: 172.6 cm.

Period: Taishô period – Early Shôwa period (First half 20th century)

This room divider is light in weight and can also be easily mounted flat on a wall and presented as one piece of art.
