Exquisite and large six-panel byôbu 屏風 (room divider) with a detailed painting on gold leaf of a pine tree forest 松 (matsu) with two white bird of prey 猛禽類 (môkinrui) flying overhead. The evergreen pine trees are symbols of a long life.
The panels are mounted by two silk borders, a thin dark brown brocade one, and a broad light brown brocade one. Protected by a black lacquer wooden frame with its original hardware.

Period: Japan – Late Edo period (First half 19th century)
Considering its age it is in a very good condition with some minimal traces of age and wear. A considerable feat, seen its impressive age of approx. 155-220 years. Please look at the photos for a condition reference.
This room divider can be easily mounted flat on a wall and presented as one piece of art.
