Large 2-panel koi byôbu 屏風

Price:  4.200,00

Impressive large two-panel byôbu 屏風 (room divider) with a polychrome painting on silk depicting a grey and a white-and-orange Nishikigoi 錦鯉-fishes swimming in a pond with their shadows reflecting below them.
The fish are very well painted with lots of details in subtle colours. The shadows under the koi and the darker corner suggest the bottom of the pond, which gives the painting a lot of depth and perspective.

Dated Shôwa 27 (1952) and signed and sealed in the lower right corner: ‘Hôshun’ 鳳春.

The painting has a brocade mounting with some signs of age and wear and a black lacquered frame in good condition. With a dark green backing, with some paper missing, see photo’s. The painting itself is in very good condition. For a clear general condition reference, please look at the photos as wel.

These kind of room-dividers are light in weight and can also be easily mounted flat on a wall and presented as one piece of art.
