A six panel byobu-screen with a polychrome anonymous painting of various chrysanthemum flowers in white, yellow-brown, pink, with suzuki-grass, blue morning glories (asagao) and to the left white rose mallow flowers (hibiscus mutablilis) and some cute puppy dogs. The 6 puppy dogs are happily playing in the grass amidst the flowers and bring a joyful atmosphere to the screen. The puppydogs amidst the springflowers are symbolising new life. Screens with puppies are very rare to find!
Sealed by the artist at the second panel.
The flowers are made with “Gofun” this is shell paste and gives a high relief to the flowers. The screen has a black lacquered wooden frame and has some traces of age and wear but overall in good condition, see photo’s. Taishō period (1912-1926). Sealed by the artist Kō… 横?

These kind of room-dividers are light in weight and can also be easily mounted flat on a wall and presented as one piece of art.
