A beautiful low and wide à double-usage two-panel furosaki’byôbu 風炉先屏風 (tea-ceremony room divider).
The elegant partially open wooden frame with an image on both sides. The room divider is equipped with an uncommon mechanism where you can fold the screen in both directions. The frame is varnished in a deep reddish brown hue.
One side with a row of nine long white flowers. Sealed in the lower left corner. The reverse with vertical bands of silver-leaf interspersed with black ones.

Total width 178.4 cm ( 2 x 89.2 cm), Height 54.5 cm.
Period: Japan – Taishô period/ Early Shôwa period (Second quarter 20th century).
It is in a very good original condition. Please look at the photos for a condition reference.
In Japan such screens are often used as a background for example vases with ikebana arrangements or other, in this case traditional tea ceremony objects.
This screen is light in weight and can thus easily mounted flat on a wall and presented as one piece of art.
