Great, large six-panel byôbu 屏風 (folding screen) covered with shiny golden silk. In Japan such tranquil and even screens are often used as a background for example vases with ikebana arrangements or other decorative or ceremonial objects.

Surrounded by two brocade silk borders, a thin white one, and a wide black one with flower pattern. The screen is protected by a black lacquered wooden frame with its original golden metal hardware with a rich design.

The backside with an inscription in the hand-stamped silver design.

Period: Japan – Mid-/Late-Shôwa period (Mid-/Late-20th century).

Total width: 369.4 cm (2 x 63.1 cm and 4 x 60.8 cm); Height: 174.5 cm.

It is in a very good condition with minimal traces of wear conform age. Small repapering on the backside. Please take a close look at the photos for a clear condition reference.

The folding screen is ideal for mounting flat on a wall and presenting as a single work of art.
