Nice rectangular solid wooden kanban 看板 (shop sign) with carved advertising inscriptions and a depiction of a buff male figure crossing his arms and with a logo in front of him.
This sign is promoting a medicine called Sukoyaka すこやか, sold by a shop named ‘Juhôdô’ 壽芳堂 in the village Yamamura 山村.
They state that it is a ‘Nutritional agent for stomach and digestion for longevity’ 健胃消化不老長壽營養剤.
Made of precious ‘Keyaki’ wood (Zelkova – Japanese oak) and the carvings featuring polychrome and gilded details.

Dimensions:
Length 86 cm, Width 54.4 cm, Depth 3.5 cm.
Period: Japan – Taishô period (1912-1926).

In a very good original condition with a few traces of wear conform age. A logical consequence, as it originally hung outside for many years. Please look at the photos for a condition reference.
