A striking low four-panel byôbu 屏風 (folding screen) with 8 facsimile woodblock prints of bijin 美人 (beautiful woman) after designs of the famous ukiyo-e artist Kitagawa Utamaro 喜多川歌麿. He is one of the most highly regarded designers of ukiyo-e woodblock prints and paintings, and is best known for his bijin ōkubi-e “large-headed pictures of beautiful women” of the 1790s.

The reproduction prints are set on an écru silk background, mounted by two silk borders and protected by a black lacquered frame.

This room divider is very suitable to be mounted flat on a wall and presented as one piece of art.
