Gold lacquered ôyoroi (suit-of armour) with orange cords and a blue hem (kin’urushinuri hi’ito murasakisuso odoshi ōyoroi).
Black and gold lacquered iron twenty-six plate sujikabuto-helmet, with in front a large gold lacquered wooden dragon maedate. The helmet has large back-bending fukikaeshi covered with imitation ‘smoked leather’. The neck guards (except one free neck guard), consist of three connected shikoro that end in the fukikaeshi. They have orange cords and a blue hem. On the back of the helmet hangs a golden silk tassel.
The black lacquered iron ‘angry looking old man’-facial mask (resseibô) with a ‘smoked leather’ bordered two-piece gorget (nodowa) and below an extra two piece nodowa with also a ‘smoked leather’ border.
The six-piece sode with orange tassels protect the shoulders and fall over the kote that protect the arms and which are made of gold lacquered Japanese mail and metal strips over a light coloured brocade with a vibrant flower design (shinokote).
Two piece cuirass with vertical laced kozane-plates (nimaidô) with a pair of golden tassels above a circular embossed metal family crest (mon) depicting an ivy (tsuta). Next to them hang a matching sendannoita (‘satinwood-board’) and a kyûbinoita (dovetail-board). On the back hangs an impressively large golden tassel. From the cuirass hangs a seven-parts five-piece kusazuri skirt. Around the waist of the cuirass a matching brocade silk waistband (uwaobi).
The haidate that protect the upper legs consists of gold lacquered laced metal karuta-plates over similar brocade. The lower legs are protected by tube-shaped greaves (dosuneate) with on top attached ‘wing’-shaped ô’tateage. The light brown ‘boar’-skin kegutsu (fur shoes) with a ‘smoked leather’ tab in front, a floral brocade border with a white hem, and an orange cord.
Including a faux-wakizashi. The sheath with nashiji lacquer. The wakizashi is made as one piece, so there is no blade that you can pull out of the sheath.
With square black lacquered store-box for a suit-of armour (yoroibako). The front of the store-box decorated with the character mae 前 (“in front”) in gold. The Kanji “Mae” meaning “the first”; in other words: “I, who has priority above others”.
The armour is in a nice original condition with some minor signs of age and wear. Please see the photos as a reference.
