Ox-horn vessel with skeleton maki-e
Price: € 450,00
A rare and intriguing Japanese black ox-horn vessel with golden maki-e 蒔絵 (decorative lacquer) of a skeleton 骨格 (kokkaku) standing amidst reeds.
The restoration at the tip indicates that this was probably formerly a powder horn for gunpowder. A small cord hole at the back remains, which can now be used to hang up this piece as a decorative wall vase.
It is in a good completely restored condition with some traces of age. Please look at the photos for a condition reference.
