A rare well made fiercly looking bird of prey “Taka”. The bird is made of silk, paper and leather and has glass inlaid eyes.
The bird rests on a black lacquered wooden stand. Together with silk decorative tassels and a paper ornament.
In its original wooden tomobako.

This object is referring to the Japanese Art of Falconry (Takagari).
The Japanese Art of Falconry was popular in Edo period Japan and was a common pastime for the Samurai.
Size including stand H. : 55 cm , W. : 24.5 cm D. : 15 cm.
