Saika-style zaboshi’kabuto 座星兜

Price:  3.850,00

Old and fantastic iron eight-plate Saika-style zaboshi’kabuto 座星兜 (seated rivet helmet) with small fukikaeshi 吹返し (face guard) and two neck guards 錣 (shikoro) laced with dark blue silk cords 濃紺絲 (nôkon’ito). The overlapping plates are fastened by seated rivets 座星 (zaboshi), which gives them the lovely shape of chrysanthemums 菊 (kiku). On four sides a bullet-shaped rivet.

The front with a nice arrow-shaped maedate 前立て (decoration piece). The wooden maedate is covered with shiny gold leaf.

The helmet is in a very good original condition with some very minor traces of age and wear, and with a beautiful patina. Please look at the photos for a condition reference. A considerable feat seeing the helmet dates already from the end of the Muromachi period / early Momoyama period. This is around the second half of the 16th (!) century, which is around 450 years old.
