Striking black lacquer bajô jingasa 馬上陣笠 (horseback samurai hat) with a slightly upward-bent visor. Above a crest depicting six coins in gold lacquer. Surmounted by a patinated metal knob shaped like tiered chrysanthemum flower with a cherry blossom in the centre.
The inside coated with red lacquer and fitted with a head cushion.

Approx. size:
Height 12 cm, Width 31.8 cm, Depth 34 cm.
Period: Japan – Taishô period (1912-1926).

The helmet is in a very good original condition with minimal traces of wear conform age. Please look at the photos for a condition reference.

Jingasa (“war hat”): a type of hat commonly worn by samurai and ashigaru (foot soldiers).
