Marvellous black lacquer wooden sword stand 刀掛け (katana’kake) for three swords in the shape of Mount Fuji which is decorated with golden hiramaki-e 平蒔絵 (low-relief design).
The refined maki-e on the front depicts a broad view over the sea with chidori 千鳥 (plover)-birds flying over stylized pine trees. At the edge of the water there is a docked fisher boat with some nets hanging to dry next to it. In the centre of the scene a crest depicting two crossed feathers in a circle 丸に違鷹羽紋 (maru ni chigai takanoha mon).
The katana’kake is in a good condition with some traces of age, wear and old restorations. Please take a close look at the photos of almost not visible craquelé on the right side. For a clear condition reference, please take a close look at the photos as well.
