Large globular wickerwork bamboo ikebana flower basket with a fixed handle and a separate bamboo segment as vase created by Wada Wa’ichisai III (1899-1975). Very elegant and tightly braided. Bottom marked: Wa’ichisai.
Wa’íchisai III is quite famous. He was born in Osaka as a son of Wada Waichisai II.
In 1911 he started to learn bamboo craft under his father. At his private exhibition in Tokyo held in 1927, his work was purchased by a kuge (court noble). He inherited “ Wada Waichisai III” in 1933 when his father passed way. Including bamboo insert used for ikebana arrangements.Taisho – Showa-period.
