Antique mother of pearl 5-tiered stacked jûbako

Spectacular, antique lacquered wooden 5-tiered stacked jûbako 重箱 (tiered picnic box) with two covers, better known as a bentô-box (lunch box). Richly encrusted with shiny white mother-of-pearl 螺鈿 (raden) on a lacquer substrate in different hues of black and brown.
The interiors of the containers finished with vibrant red lacquer.
Each container raised by a pair of elongated low feet.

Dimensions:
Height 41.5 cm, Width 24.9 cm, Depth 23 cm.
Heights of the containers vary a bit, but are approx. 7.5 cm each.
Period: Japan – Late Edo period (First half 19th century).

Considering its age in a very good original condition with some minimal traces of use, like some minor lacquer loss along the rim. One container and one cover with a shrinkage crack. Please look at the photos for a clear condition reference.

Including original black lacquer wooden tomobako 供箱 (storage box).
