Gorgeous pair of stackable lacquer serving trays, 足付会席膳 (Ashitsuke’kaisekizen), with facetted corners, a raised rim, and standing on a pair of gate-shaped legs.

The top of the serving trays are decorated with three fans in hiramaki-e 平蒔絵 (low-relief design), each depicting their own scene. One with geese flying in front of a full moon, one with a blooming cherry blossom tree 桜 (Sakura), and the last with momiji 椛 (autumn leaves) falling on a stream. Set on a black lacquer background 蝋色漆 (rôiro’urushi) inlaid with many tiny pieces of mother-of-pearl 螺鈿 (raden).
The raised rim and the legs are lacquered in a lovely ox-blood red hue. The bottom of the trays with an even layer of black.

The trays are in a very good original condition with only some traces of age and wear. Please see the photos as a condition reference.

Height 11.5 cm, Width 36.6 cm, Depth 36.4 cm.
Height of a small and large tray stacked: 21.4 cm.
