Charming mid-size black lacquer serving tray 広蓋 (hirobuta) with a golden and reddish hiramaki-e 平蒔絵 (low-relief design) and takamaki-e 高蒔絵 (high-relief design) of several fans with each their own motif. One fan with a chrysanthemum flower garden 菊 (kiku), another with stylized bell flowers 桔梗 (kikyô), a third showing an imperial cart 御所車 (gosho’guruma) taking shelter under pine trees 松 (matsu).

Height 7.7 cm, Width 58.5 cm, Depth 40.7 cm.
Period: Japan – Shōwa period (1926-1989).
In a very good condition with only some superficial scratches on the bottom. Please look at the photos for a condition reference.
Hirobuta 広蓋 served as a tray for formal presentation to present gifts or other items, like a kimono or business cards.
