A lovely lacquered low rectangular table 座卓 (zataku) features a thick top adorned in enchanting wakasa’nuri 若狭塗 lacquer, displaying a palette of orange, silver, copper, red, green and black hues. Sporadically embedded with a few flakes of shimmering mother of pearl 螺鈿 (raden).
The table has rounded corners and supported by four elegant console-shaped feet.
This lacquer technique is achieved by meticulously layering various shades of lacquer, then delicately ‘sanding down’ to create a captivating natural motif.

Period: Japan – Taishô period-Early Shôwa period (First half 20th century).
It is in a very good original condition with some minor traces of use along the rim at the bottom. Please look at the photos for a condition reference.
