Set of five black lacquer lidded bowls on a high foot. Used for a traditional clear broth soup 吸物椀 (suimono’wan). The lid decorated with golden maki-e (lacquer design) depicting different flora in a peach-shaped cartouche, surrounded by a goldish silver lacquered ground. The bowl decorated with an elegant gold lacquer line along the rim.

Including inscribed wooden tomobako 供箱 (storage box).

Height 8.5 cm, Diameter 13.6 cm.
Period: Japan – Early Shôwa period (Early/Mid 20th century).
