Beautiful lacquer tea caddy 棗 (natsume) with refined hiramaki-e 平蒔絵 (low-relief lacquer design) and takamaki-e 高蒔絵 (high-relief lacquer design) showcasing blooming branches of a weeping cherry tree 枝垂れ桜 (shidare’zakura) cascading from the lid over the sides.
Executed in shades of gold, rosé gold and silver over an ecru ground. Two blossoms with inlaid pieces of shiny white mother-of-pearl 螺鈿 (raden).
The interior with a glossy black lacquered finish.

Including original wooden signed and sealed tomobako 供箱 (storage box) by the artist Nakamura Sôin 中村宗尹. Active late 20th century in Yamanaka, Ishikawa prefecture.

The natsume is in a very good original condition. Please look a the photos for a condition reference.

Period: Japan – Late 20th century (Late Shôwa period/Heisei period).
