Large Japanese black lacquer postcard album with refined multi-coloured mother-of-pearl inlay depicting a rooster and hen next to a well. A peony bush blooms at the side of the well, while a bucket hangs from a pulley, ready to be used. The image is surrounded by a grey lacquered decorative lace border.

The album holds nine plates each lined with hand painted silk. The plates can hold 72 post cards and each feature their own hand painted design; foliage with blooming flowers and birds.

Taishô-period – approx.1919
The album is in a fair condition due to loss of lacquer along the rims and traces of age on the inside. Please look at the photos for a condition reference.

Accompanied by some original postcards of which one dates 1919.
