Captivating Yamanaka’ware black lacquer 蝋色漆 (rôiro’urushi) tea caddy 棗 (natsume) with a refined golden hiramaki-e 平蒔絵 (low-relief design) and takamaki-e 高蒔絵 (high-relief design) of a large weeping willow 柳 (yanagi). The large hanging branches cover almost the entire tea caddy.
To emphasize the trunk of the tree a bit more it is inlaid with tiny shiny golden sprinkles 切金 (kirigane).

The interior has a beautiful even black lacquer layer accentuated by golden fundame 粉溜地 rims. The circular recess at the bottom with an even black lacquer as well.

Including original wooden signed and sealed tomobako 供箱 (storage box). It is signed by the artist Tada Keikan 多田桂寛 (1935-?), who was born in the Yamanaka Onsen town, Ishikawa prefecture.
It is also accompanied by a Japanese pamphlet describing the accomplishments of the artist.

The natsume is in a very good ‘mint’ condition. Please look a the photos for a condition reference. This black layer in combination with the contrasting gold tones gives the tea caddy a striking and wondrous appearance.
