Elegant set of ten stackable lacquered square serving trays 会席膳 (kaisekizen) with lovely maki-e (lacquer design) in shades of gold, copper en silver. Depicting bell flowers (kikyô) and paulownia leaves with flowers (kiri) connected by scrolling foliage (karakusa). Set on a sparse reddish gold nashiji ground (sprinkled gold lacquer). Raised by four bracket-feet.

The trays are in a very good original condition with some minimal traces of use. One tray with a tiny rim chip and lacquer crack in
a corner. Please look at the photos for a condition reference.

Size each tray:
Height 3.4 cm, Width & Depth 26 cm.
Period: Japan – Late Meiji period/Taishô period (First quarter 20th century).
