Bamboo ikebana basket with a large loop handle

Price:  850,00

High quality wickerwork bamboo baluster-shaped ikebana basket 花籠 (hanakago) with an extremely large loop handle.

The basket is intricately and densely woven with thin bamboo strips and has a firm foot ring which makes it stand stable. The bamboo has an amazing warm deep red patina.

Under the broad flat edge it has a pair of nice small loosely woven ears.

The large separate loop handle is made out of one thin piece of bamboo with some woven decorations. It splits at both ends, and these four points fit perfectly in the inserts next to the ears.

Including a separate bamboo segment vase with a copper lining. This cylindrical container can be used for flower arrangements.

The basket is in a very good condition. Please look at the photos for reference.

Ikebana is a disciplined art form in which nature and humanity are brought together. Contrary to the idea of floral arrangement as a collection of multicolored arrangement of blooms, ikebana often emphasizes other areas of the plant, such as its stems and leaves, and draws emphasis toward shape, line and form” (from Wikipedia).
