Kô’bô’dansu 小棒箪笥
Price: € 1.350,00
High quality, heavy & completely restored kô’bô’dansu 小棒箪笥 (small cabinet of drawers with locking bar) in one section. Fully restored, cleaned and waxed.
The exterior and the front of the drawers are made of precious solid burl Keyaki wood (Zelkova – “Japanese oak”). It is varnished in a beautiful warm deep reddish brown hue still showing the unique swirling wood grains. A burl is a tree growth in which the grain has grown in a deformed manner. A high quality type of wood that is sought after in woodworking.
The kô’dansu has three stacked large drawers which are protected by a vertical safety bar. Underneath a square drawer and a hinged door. Behind the hinged door two small stacked drawers.
The drawers are equipped with slender “leech”-shaped bail handles. And the knobs of the cabinet are in the shape of blooming chrysanthemums 菊 (kiku).
The drawers are very deep and have a lot of volume, for easy storage. They run very smoothly.
It is in a very good completely restored condition. Delivered without the keys. The safety bar functions in the old fashioned Japanese way, not very smooth.
