Kazari’dana 飾り棚

Enticing & rare black lacquer low kazari’dana 飾り棚 (display shelf) with an elaborately mother-of-pearl 螺鈿 (raden) inlaid front. The top of the display cabinet with a pair of sliding doors, underneath which an open staggered shelf, and on the lower half three different sized drawers and a removable cover.

The sliding doors, the cover and fronts of the drawers are made of warm brown varnished keyaki wood (Zelkova – “Japanese oak”). The cover is equipped with a lovely pullable ornament, and the drawers with slender u-shaped bail handles.

This charming display shelf is in a good condition with some traces of age and wear. Please take a close look at the pictures of the top right corner. And for a general condition reference, please check the photos as well.
