Restored tall wooden kimono’ishô’dansu

Price:  1.900,00

Charming and completely restored tall wooden kimono’ishô’dansu 着物衣装箪笥 (cabinet of drawers for kimono) in two sections. Fully restored, cleaned and waxed. In super condition. This heavy cabinet is made of very thick wood and very well made: If you close one drawer another drawer will slide out. This only occurs when the quality of the craftsmanship and the wood are of excellent quality. Unusual and rare is also that this piece of furniture is signed personally by the maker Tazawa Kensuke.

It is made of indigenous kiri (paulownia) wood varnished in a sought after warm brown hue, a colour that we like to call ‘golden oak’. Featuring elegant trims in a darker-shade of wood and nicely finished pin joints.

The upper part configured with a pair of sliding doors with chrysanthemum-shaped thumb grips. Opening to a display area with two small drawers. Underneath, three small adjacent drawers and four stacked wide drawers. When removing the middle smaller drawer there is a lock system for the right and left drawer.

The lower part with three more matching drawers.
The smooth running drawers are fitted with textured patinated metal ‘warabite’-shaped bail handles with ornamented reticulated backplates, and matching small circular lock-plates.
The cabinet is very spacious and ideal for easy storage due to the many different type of compartments.

The kimono cabinet is in a very good completely restored condition. No keys included. Please look at the photos for a condition reference.

With a label of the antique dealer. And a drawer with the signature of the furniture maker Tazawa Kensuke 田澤謙介. From Kamo City, Niigata Prefecture.
