Elegant and completely restored wooden kimono ishô dansu 着物衣装箪笥 (cabinet of drawers for kimono) in three sections on a fixed plinth. Fully restored, cleaned and waxed.

The fronts and frame are made of hinoki cypress wood. The entire outside is slightly varnished, giving it a tad warmer hue.

The upper part has a pair of sliding doors and three small drawers underneath those. The sliding doors are fitted with chrysanthemum-shaped 菊 (kiku) thumb grips. The interior with a shelf on the left side, and an open space on the right.

The middle and lower section both with two large drawers.
All the drawers with refined ‘warabite’-shaped bail handles. In the middle of the drawers a small floral-decorated circular lock plate. The drawers are very deep and have a lot of volume, for easy storage. They run very smoothly as well.

The kimono cabinet is in a very good completely resorted condition. Please look at the photos for a condition reference. No keys included.

Height 161 cm, Width 90,8 cm, Depth 42 cm.

This Tansu is the traditional storage cabinetry, indigenous to Japan, and have the typical Japan’s minimalist aesthetics. It was made in the early Showa period, approx. 80 years old.
