Wooden figure of young monk

Large and exceptional wooden figure on an oval base depicting a young monk with a peaceful friendly expression, sitting on the floor and beating on a “wooden fish (mokugyo)” (a wooden drum or gong in a Buddhist temple). In original condition. Some parts of the stucco are loose. Please see pictures.
