Gilt lacquer zushi 厨子 (portable shrine with double doors) holding a very refined carved wooden Buddhistic figure in gilt: Amida Nyorai 阿弥陀仏 (also known as Amitabha), the Buddha of Infinite Light, displaying the welcoming mudra 来迎印 (raigô-in) to greet the soul of a faithful devotee at death.
Backed by a gilded almond-shaped mandorla with an open-work wave design.
Standing on a lotus throne supported by an ornate galleried pedestal.

The shrine with a gilded interior and a polychrome painted canopy with a lotus and scrolling foliage design.
The exterior fitted with elegant oxidized silver hardware with an engraved scrolling foliage motif. The latch handle and knob shaped like asters 野菊 (nogiku).
Period: Japan – Late Edo period (Mid-19th century).
