Chinese figurine, crafted from solid hardwood and depicts the seated bodhisattva Guanyin, also known as Avalokiteshvara, the Goddess of Mercy.

Guanyin is posed in the lalitasana position, elegantly seated atop lotuses that are borne aloft by an upward-splashing wave. Her crown features a small depiction of Amida, underscoring her role as Amida’s principal attendant.

Guanyin exudes a serene, meditative presence. She is draped in open, flowing robes and adorned with ornate beaded jewellery around her neck. One hand is positioned in the Varada mudra, signifying compassion and blessing, while her left hand forms the bhumisparsa mudra, symbolizing enlightenment and steadfastness.

Encasing Guanyin is a large, flame-shaped mandorla that envelops her, adding a divine aura. The sculpture rests on a rectangular ornate base supported by four lion head-shaped feet.
