Wooden figure of a standing Bishamonten (Vaisravana). Representing an armor-clad god of war or warriors and a punisher of evildoers.

The spear in his right hand is missing. In his left hand he carries a small pagoda, symbolizing the divine treasure house, whose contents he both guards and gives away.

In Japanese folklore, he is one of the Seven Lucky Gods.

Meiji period.
