A dark red lacquered wooden Batōkannon 馬頭観音 with traces of gilding. A Batōkannon is a form of bodhisattva Kannon with six arms holding a pagoda, a lotus, a sword, one hand in the varada- or giving gesture and two hands folded in front of the chest.

Kannon has three faces with the fierce expression of a Myōō (“ Wisdom King ”) and in the crown a horse-head.
The figure is placed a black lacquered plinth.

Period: Shôwa period (1926-1989)

In a fair condition with traces of wear and with some missing parts. Please look at the photos for a condition reference.
